Indoor Water Fountain - Water Treatment

Water treatments are usually recommended in fountains for maintenance and to keep your fountain looking and smelling clean in between extensive cleanings. A fountain that uses tap water will have mineral deposits form in the fountain basin and inside the pump. People often comment that their fountain is developing a "funny smell", which is usually due to algae growth. There are several products available commercially that deal with algae and mineral deposits, some safer than others. We recommend two organic water treatments Fountec® and Protec®.

Fountec® - Clarifier & Algaecide: This water treatment formula will keep your fountain water clearer, cleaner and free of algae without the use of chlorine and laborious scrubbing, both of which are harmful to fountains. Fountec® utilizes a unique control method to inhibit and eradicate algae without harming the environment with harmful chemicals. It is unaffected by evaporation, heat and sunlight, allowing it to outlast similar copper and enzyme based competitor products. Fountec® is very economical; a small dose lasts up to a week or more due to its concentrated formula.

Protec® - Scale Stain Protector: Protec® is a formula that focuses on maintaining the beauty of fountain surfaces. It contains a blend of advanced organophosphate, protecting against white calcium mineral buildup and metallic stains. Protec® is long lasting; a single dose can last up to a month or longer.

We recommend that you begin habitual usage of these products at the same time of the purchase your new indoor water fountain. This ensures that your fountain fights unwanted algae and mineral buildup from the start.
