How to Keep the Area around Your Fountain SafeYour Fountain is beautiful! It's just arrived, you've set it up, and it looks and sounds great. If you have encountered any problems with water splashing onto things around it, here's what you can do to keep it safe. First, when trying out your fountain, do so in a waterproof area with towels or paper towels on hand. This way, if you have any problems with splashing, you can clean up the water as soon as possible. If you plan on putting your fountain on a very valuable piece of wooden furniture, you may wish to try it out for a day on something metal or plastic, just to check to see if water splashes out of the basin. Hopefully your fountain will not splash. Wall fountains are designed to not splash out. However, if water does splash out, there are a few things you can do. First, place a plastic mat, such as a placemat, underneath your fountain. Choose a pretty one that matches your décor. This way, if water splashes out at any point, your fountain will be protected. If your fountain is bumped, for example, water may spill out. You might not notice until later. This is why it's good to have a placemat under the fountain. If water splashes out, try adjusting the pump. Turn the pump level down, so that it does not pump water as quickly. Since water is coming out less forcefully, less water should splash out. Check to make sure that the water level is not too low or too high. The water level should be above the pump but below a quarter inch from the top of the basin. If it is not within this range, water may splash out. Finally, you may wish to add rocks, such as river stones, to the water fountain base. This will help to catch any water that may splash. Put your fountain in a place where it is well out of the way of passersby. If it is bumped, water may spill out. In such a case, this is when your placemat will be useful for protecting whatever your fountain rests on. You need not get too worried about splashing water. As previously stated, fountains are designed so that the water does not splash out. If you continue to have splashing water, call the manufacturer. They should be able to assist you and, if need be, replace your fountain. See More Articles
