How to Add Water to Your FountainYou've purchased and installed your fountain. Great! Now that it is up and running, there are a few things you'll need to do to maintain your fountain, which shouldn't be hard at all. Your fountain will last for many years if you take good care of it. Many people wonder, how do I water my fountain? This is a good question, and the answer depends on what type of fountain you have. Most small fountains use recirculating water. If you have a fountain in your home or office, or a small one in your garden, check to see if it has a pump that recirculates water. If it does (most people have fountains that fit this description), you will simply need to add water occasionally as the water evaporates and the water level goes down. Keep the water level above the pump. If the water level falls below the pump, the pump may burn out, in which case you'll have to replace it. Be careful not to let this happen! You will probably need to add a little water to your tabletop fountain about as often as you water your houseplants. Most fountains sold online are the recirculating kind mentioned above. However, some large fountains require special installation because they are so big that too much water evaporates daily to fill it up by hand. If you are installing a fountain of this magnitude, you will likely need to hire a contractor that will install a water source that adds water at the same rate at which the water evaporates. When you are buying a fountain online, chances are you're getting a recirculating fountain. If it is not, the website should specify that special installation is required. However, in most cases a recirculating fountain will do just fine. Take special care of your water fountain in the summer. Remember that on especially hot days, the water may evaporate more quickly. To make up for this discrepancy, take care to add more water in the summer than you do in the winter. Adding water to your fountain is as simple as keeping plants alive. If you care for your fountain, it will have a continuous supply of water running. This won't take much time out of your day at all and needn't be done daily, unless you are having particularly hot weather. As long as your fountain's pump is submerged, your fountain will remain in good health. See More Articles
